Choosing Your Manicure

Revarnish is the quickest option if your nails just need fresh polish and are already in good shape. Reshape & Revarnish adds shaping beforehand for anyone whose nails have grown unevenly since their last visit. Express and Standard Manicures add cuticle work and hand care in increasing depth, and the Deluxe treatments add a paraffin wax soak for hydration, with or without polish included.

All six options include proper cuticle care and shaping as standard — the difference between tiers is mainly the depth of hand treatment and whether paraffin wax and polish are included, not whether basic nail care happens at all. That's a deliberate choice: even the quickest revarnish appointment gets nails looked at properly rather than polish slapped over whatever state they're in.

Paraffin wax, offered at the Deluxe tier, is worth knowing about specifically if you deal with dry skin, rough cuticles or hands that feel tight and uncomfortable through winter. Hands are dipped in warm, melted wax that sets and is then peeled away, leaving skin noticeably softer and more hydrated — it's one of the more immediately noticeable treatments on the whole Lavish menu, and a popular add-on even for clients who don't usually book the full deluxe tier.

For anyone unsure which tier to book, the general rule is simple: if your nails are already shaped and healthy, Revarnish or Reshape & Revarnish covers it. If it's been a while since your last manicure or your cuticles feel neglected, Standard or Deluxe is the better starting point.

Who It's For

Anyone wanting tidy, healthy-looking nails, whether that's a five-minute polish refresh before heading out or a full hand treatment as a proper reset. Deluxe options suit anyone wanting extra hydration for dry skin or cuticles, particularly through colder months when hands take a beating from central heating and cold air. It's also a natural pairing with a Pedicure or Gel Polish in the same visit for clients who want hands and feet sorted together rather than as two separate trips.

What to Expect

1

Consultation

Confirming which treatment level and polish colour, if included, and flagging any nail or skin concerns before starting.

2

Shape & Cuticle Care

Nails shaped and cuticles tidied to the level of your chosen treatment, forming the base every tier is built on.

3

Hand Treatment

Deluxe options add a paraffin wax soak for deeper hydration of hands, cuticles and surrounding skin.

4

Polish or Finish

Polish applied where included, or nails buffed to a clean, natural finish if you've opted out of colour.

Benefits

A Tier for Every Visit

Quick revarnish or a full deluxe treatment, whichever suits the day and how much time you've got.

Proper Cuticle Care

Included at every level as standard, not just an upsell reserved for the most expensive tier.

Paraffin Wax Option

Deeper hydration for dry hands and cuticles, especially useful through winter months.

Flexible Pairing

Combines easily with a Pedicure, Gel Polish or facial in the same appointment.

Preparation & Aftercare

Before Your Appointment

  • Remove any existing polish before arriving if you can, though we can remove it for you if needed
  • Bring a colour reference if you have a specific shade in mind
  • Let your technician know about any nail or skin conditions beforehand
  • If booking Deluxe with paraffin wax, avoid any fresh cuts or grazes on hands where possible, as wax isn't suitable over broken skin

Aftercare

  • Avoid submerging hands in water for an hour after your appointment to let polish fully set
  • Apply hand cream daily to keep cuticles in good condition between visits
  • Rebook every 2–3 weeks to keep polish and shape looking fresh
  • Wear gloves for washing up and household cleaning to protect polish and reduce dryness between appointments

Good to Know

Manicure — Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Standard and Express Manicure?

Express is a shorter, more streamlined version for when you're short on time; Standard includes fuller hand and cuticle care.

Does Deluxe with Polish include gel polish?

No — that includes standard polish. See our Gel Polish page for gel manicure options if you want a longer-lasting finish.

Can I just get my polish redone without a full manicure?

Yes — Revarnish and Reshape & Revarnish are exactly for that, and are the quickest, most affordable options on the menu.

How much does a manicure cost in St John's Wood?

Manicures at Lavish start from £12 for a Revarnish, up to £34 for a Deluxe Manicure with Polish. See the price table below for the full breakdown.

What is paraffin wax and is it worth it?

It's a warm wax soak that deeply hydrates hands and cuticles — genuinely worth trying if your skin tends to be dry, particularly in winter.
